    Before a coaster is built, surveyors have to plot out the course of the structure.  They take precise measurements from a predetermined reference marker.  Below, you see how the track has been marked out with stakes.   You can get the impression that the coaster will eventually be built over the water by following the course of the stakes.

In order to begin construction, the ground must first be the proper elevation accroding to the blueprints. Here, heavy equipment is being used to remove trees and re-level the ground.


    Once the land is at the proper elevation, more measurements are taken, and long wooden reference markers are placed in various positions, as you see in the photo below. These markers are staked into the ground so they do not move, and then nails are inserted in precise locations so that a measuring device can be attached to it in order to........
