Welcome to Washington DC usa_ws.gif (6050 bytes)

No matter where you are, and no matter when you have time, you need to plan a trip to Washington.  After all, it is the capital of the US, and practically everything there is FREE...the key word.  You have everything from the monuments, like the Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, FDR, Korean War, Vietnam, Ford's Theater, and so on and so on... and all free and open all the time with exception of the Wash monument, which closes around 5 daily; but also free.  Then you have the larger sights, such as the US Capitol (House & Senate), White House, FBI, Bureau of Engraving and Printing, Old Executive Office Building, Treasury, Library of Congress and of course the National Archives...all free and open to the public with varying hours, and all a "must see" regardless of where you're from. (For cheap airfare, go to www.priceline.com, I got tickets to Rome for $250!)  Some sights do require tickets or reservations, but can usually be arranged fairly easily. Then of course there are all of the Smithsonians.  Heck, there are tons of them all in the downtown area.  Those are the best museums you will find...simple as that.  Everything from the American History, Natural History, Air & Space, sculpture gallery, two art museum buildings, Arts & Industry, African Art, Postal Museum, and some other stuff that I can't remember...I haven't even been through all of them except those I mentioned above.  Don't forget, the National Zoo is free also!   You will need time to see everything, so give yourself as long as you can.   Ok, enough talk, now look at some photos...
