"Sierra Tonante" at Mirabilandia
Ravenna, Italy

The Sierra Tonante (Thundering Sierra), designed by Stengel, was built by Mirabilandia in 1992. It is 115 feet (30 meters) high, and travels at 62 miles (100km) per hour. It's two 8-car 32-seat trains can handle 1,200 passengers per hour.  The length of the track is 3,600 feet, (1.1 km) and the ride lasts for about one and a half minutes.  It took 50 trailer trucks of wood, 850,000 nails, 21,000 bolts and 15,000 screws to build Sierra Tonante.
Their new Eurowheel is the biggest panoramic ferris wheel in Europe and the biggest illuminated wheel in the world (90 meters/ 295 feet high!)
Mirabilandia is a relatively new park, having been built in 1992.   It is located on the east shore of Italy, bordering the Adriatic Sea. It's only about 2 hours from Venezia, (Venice) so if you go to either, you are close enough to visit the other.  For other photos of Italy, go HERE.
