Safety Tip of the Week

Kidnapping

Somehow, even with all of the 20/20 and 60 Minutes shows, and all the news reports and movies, some people still just don't get the idea. You would not believe what I came across on this latest road trip to Silverwood Theme Park in Idaho.  I was on the return trip, in search of food...when I stopped at the local IGA food store somewhere in Idaho.  I won't say exactly where, because if this woman's husband ever sees this, I am sure he would just strangle her on the spot.  Look in the photo below and see if you can find the problem.  If you can't see it, then scroll down to the other photo that I did some color correction on, due to the fact that I didn't have time to properly adjust the camera before taking the photo.

When I got out of my car and saw this, I about fell off my horse. Windows open, no one around, and a small child, perhaps 2 or 3 years old, sleeping in the 90+ degree weather.....ALONE!!!   What is wrong with these people???  I went in the store, not knowing if perhaps people do things a little differently in the mountainous areas of the other side of the country, and asked a cashier if this was normal. She immediately ran away from her drawer and came outside to see if such a thing was really possible.  Indeed, it was. She went back in to make an announcement as I took a photo...only to get barked at when the goofey lady came out of the store and saw me with the camera. Who in the world leaves their baby all alone in the truck with the windows open??  Has this person never watched the television or been to a movie??  What if her child was gone when she returned, then what?? In most states this is reason enough for the police to arrest the negligent parent.

People...please do not leave your children's fate to some stranger.

Do not leave your child in a vehicle alone.

Do not leave your child alone in the summer heat!
